On February 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy assured that Ukraine was prepared to promptly negotiate a robust agreement on investments and security with the United States, emphasizing that his meeting with U.S. envoy Keith Kellogg "renews hope" for success.
During his evening video address, Zelenskiy expressed, "General Kellogg, a meeting that renews hope. We require strong agreements that will be truly effective. I have instructed a swift and impartial process."
Zelenskiy underscored the significance of the agreement's specifics, stating, "The quality of the details matters. The more precise the details are outlined, the better the outcome."
This meeting occurred following a previous exchange of remarks between Zelenskiy and the U.S. President as U.S.-Russian discussions began, with Ukraine omitted from the talks.
In a statement post-meeting with Kellogg on the social media platform X, Zelenskiy emphasized Ukraine's commitment to "ensuring a durable and robust peace to prevent Russia from initiating further conflicts."
Zelenskiy asserted, "Ukraine is prepared for a comprehensive investment and security agreement with the President of the United States. We have suggested the most expeditious and constructive path to achieve results. Our team is prepared to work around the clock."
The discussions with Kellogg also followed Ukraine's rejection of an initial U.S. proposal for development within Ukraine.
In further remarks on platform X, Zelenskiy noted that his dialogue with Kellogg focused on the current battlefield situation, Ukraine's security demands, and the return of prisoners of war.
He stressed, "It is crucial for us, as well as for the entire free world, to sense American strength."
