Trudeau and Zelenskiy Emphasize Ukrainian Inclusion in Peace Negotiations

In a call on Thursday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy underscored the importance of having Kyiv involved in any negotiations to resolve the conflict with Russia, as stated by the prime minister's office.

Recent actions by U.S. President Donald Trump, favoring swift resolution but excluding Ukraine and important European allies from initial discussions with Russia, have raised concerns.

A statement from Trudeau's office regarding the call with Zelenskiy highlighted that "any peaceful resolution of the conflict must involve Ukraine at the negotiation table."

Canada hosts a significant Ukrainian diaspora globally and has been a steadfast supporter of Kyiv in its conflict with Moscow.

During the call, Trudeau expressed Canada's ongoing solidarity with Ukraine and stressed, "there can be no lasting peace in Europe without ensuring security for Ukraine."
