Venice authorities have extended the ticket policy for day-trippers in 2025, citing a slight reduction in crowds from last year's trial scheme. This year, visitors will be required to purchase tickets in advance on 54 designated days, an increase from 29 days last year. A "Venice Access Fee" of five euros will be implemented on specific days, with fines of 50 to 300 euros for those without tickets. The primary goal of this initiative is to deter day-trippers and alleviate overcrowding in the historic city, responding to residents' worries about the high volume of tourists.
