A judge has dismissed a US mother's attempt to avoid extradition on charges of murdering her two children in Colorado and fleeing to London.
Kimberlee Singler's nine-year-old daughter, Elianna, and seven-year-old son, Aden, were discovered deceased on December 19, 2023, in Colorado Springs.
Ms. Singler, 36, was accused by US prosecutors of leaving the country and was detained in west London 11 days later.
District Judge John Zani informed Westminster Magistrates' Court that he denied Ms. Singler's extradition challenge, passing the decision on to the home secretary for a final ruling on whether she should be returned to the US.
Judge Zani stated in his ruling that he saw no violation of Ms. Singler's rights in regards to potential prison conditions or sentences, declaring that her extradition complies with her Convention Rights under the Human Rights Act 1998.
Ms. Singler's legal team plans to appeal the judge's decision.
Prosecutor Joel Smith detailed how the tragic events unfolded on December 19, 2023, when the Colorado Springs Police found Elianna and Aden dead in their home and a blood-stained handgun nearby.
Following a thorough investigation, Ms. Singler was apprehended in London's Chelsea area on December 30.
Judge Zani emphasized that the London court is not responsible for conducting a criminal trial but noted that Ms. Singler's defense claims complete innocence against the charges.
