Laverne Cox stars in one of the final projects produced by comedy legend Norman Lear, who passed away in 2023 at 101. Cox portrays Desiree, a New York art gallery owner whose business collapses, leading her to return home to Mobile, Alabama after 23 years. She moves in with her father, Harry (comedian George Wallace), who is unaware that his child has transitioned. The series puts a new gender perspective on classic sitcom dynamics, with humor revolving around the city girl in a small town scenario.
The series "Clean Slate" debuts on Amazon Prime on February 6.
