Swiss economic growth accelerated in the fourth quarter compared to the previous three months, driven by both industry and the services sector, according to a preliminary official estimate released on Monday. Adjusted for sporting events, gross domestic product (GDP) expanded by 0.4% from the third quarter, as reported by the Swiss government. This increase followed a 0.2% growth in GDP during the July-September period. The economy ministry's estimate indicated that for the entire year of 2024, growth slowed to 0.8% from 1.2% the previous year. The ministry noted that this figure was below Switzerland's average annual growth of 1.8% since 1981.
