Royal Mail is set to increase the price of first-class stamps by 5p to £1.70 starting April 7, marking the sixth hike in three years. Second-class stamps will also see a 2p increase, rising from 85p to 87p, according to the postal service. Nick Landon, Royal Mail's chief commercial officer, stressed that the price adjustments are a response to escalating delivery expenses. Ofcom highlighted the need for reforms in the Universal Service to guarantee deliveries to approximately 32 million addresses every six days a week.
