Oracle to Offer Cloud Computing and AI Services to Singapore's Military

Singapore-based Oracle announced on Wednesday its first deal in Southeast Asia with the country's defense tech arm. The agreement entails providing "isolated" cloud computing and AI services to enhance cybersecurity measures due to the region's susceptibility to cyber espionage and supply chain attacks.

In this partnership, Oracle will furnish Singapore's military and defense ministry with an "air-gapped" isolated cloud computing system, ensuring a secure connection to classified networks through encrypted devices, disconnected from the internet.

Rand Waldron, Oracle's Global Defense Chief Technology Officer, stated, "We're bringing our generative AI tools across the air gaps and into those isolated environments." The AI technology encompasses data analysis and image processing capabilities, such as identifying faces, license plates, and car details from video streams.

Oracle refrained from disclosing the deal's financial specifics. Notably, Oracle has been expanding its presence in Southeast Asia, including plans to invest in establishing a cloud region in Malaysia.
