Microsoft Employees Protest Sale of AI and Cloud Services to Israeli Military

During a protest against contracts offering AI and cloud services to the Israeli military, five Microsoft employees were escorted out of a meeting with CEO Satya Nadella. An investigation unveiled that Microsoft's AI models were utilized to designate bombing targets in recent conflicts involving Israel. The application of AI models by the Israeli military via Microsoft Azure surged by almost 200 times following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. Abdo Mohamed asserted that Microsoft is placing profit above its human rights obligations in relation to these agreements.
