McDonald's franchise owners in the UK have been cautioned by the Equality and Human Rights Commission that they could face legal repercussions if they fail to safeguard workers from sexual abuse. Over 700 former employees under 19 have enlisted law firm Leigh Day to address their experiences at McDonald's, with more than 450 stores implicated as reported by multiple sources. The EHRC emphasized that owners must adhere to the Equality Act, with Chief Executive John Kirkpatrick stressing that there is "no excuse not to comply." McDonald's has acknowledged the gravity of the accusations and is dedicated to enhancing staff safety by implementing improved training and workplace protocols.
