Spanish defense and technology company Indra announced on Sunday the appointment of Angel Escribano as its new chairman, succeeding former chairman Marc Murtra who accepted an offer to become the chief executive of Telecom giant Telefonica. Murtra was replaced after he was appointed CEO of Telefonica on Saturday, following a request from the state-owned fund SEPI.

Indra held an extraordinary board meeting to formalize the appointment, expressing gratitude to Murtra for his contributions. The board recognized his role in driving a significant transformation within the Indra Group and establishing a robust business strategy for the future.

Angel Escribano, the CEO and owner of privately held Escribano Mechanical & Engineering, which operates in the military industry, has been a shareholder of Indra since May 2023.
