Hackers from China, Iran, and North Korea have reportedly utilized Google's Gemini chatbot to bolster cyberattacks on U.S. targets, as outlined in a Google report. Within the Iranian landscape, the APT42 unit has leveraged Gemini to craft phishing content, contributing to 30 percent of all Iranian APT activities on the platform. Furthermore, North Korean operatives have utilized Gemini to draft job applications for IT roles within Western companies, as a strategy to expand their recruitment endeavors. Google stresses that, despite AI supporting threat actors, it has not evolved into the impactful game changer often perceived.
