FTC Investigates Big Tech Censorship

The Federal Trade Commission is launching an investigation into censorship by tech platforms, gathering feedback from individuals who have been demonetized or banned because of their speech or affiliations. The FTC is concerned that these actions may infringe the law by stifling Americans' voices and potentially creating an anti-competitive atmosphere. In a statement, FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson emphasized that "Tech firms should not be bullying their users" in response to ongoing concerns about censorship. Legal expert Cathy Gellis warned that the investigation could misconstrue the First Amendment, clarifying that it limits government intervention rather than private platform moderation.
