France and Allies Discuss Plans for Informal Ukraine Summit

France is currently in talks with its allies to convene an informal summit of European leaders to address the situation in Ukraine, as confirmed by a French presidency official. The meeting, likely to take place on Monday, was also mentioned by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who stated that French President Emmanuel Macron had initiated the call for the summit in Paris.

Sikorski expressed concerns about the tactics employed by President Trump, noting the need for a strategic response, "You push and you see what happens, and then you change your position, legitimate tactics." The focus in Europe has shifted towards providing security assurances for Ukraine and enhancing collective security measures.

President Zelenskiy of Ukraine advocated for establishing a European army, citing a lack of guarantee of protection from the United States. Discussions among diplomats are ongoing regarding the summit's attendees, with reports suggesting that non-EU member Britain has been extended an invitation.

According to the Dutch news agency, Prime Minister Dick Schoof is scheduled to attend the summit in Paris on Monday, while uncertainty remains about Zelenskiy's potential participation.
