SAO PAULO, March 13 (Reuters) - Brazilian utility company Eletrobras announced a nearly 25% increase in fourth-quarter net profit compared to the previous year, reaching 1.11 billion reais ($191.4 million).
In a separate statement, the company disclosed an additional 1.8 billion reais ($310 million) in dividends to be distributed to shareholders.
Eletrobras holds the position of Latin America's largest utility in terms of generating capacity.
Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA), following local regulatory standards, totaled 5.1 billion reais for the December quarter, marking a 6.4% decrease from the previous year.
Net operational revenue for the quarter surpassed 12 billion reais, reflecting a year-on-year increase of over 20%.
