A privacy group, Noyb, has lodged a GDPR complaint against OpenAI following an incident where ChatGPT generated a false narrative stating that Norwegian user Arve Hjalmar Holmen had murdered his children. The AI combined accurate personal information about his children and hometown with fabricated murder claims.
This case raises significant questions about OpenAI's adherence to GDPR data correction requirements and could lead to fines of up to 4% of its global revenue. A prior similar incident in Italy resulted in a €15 million fine and a temporary ban on ChatGPT.
