Britain Set to Invest £1.8 Billion in Home Energy Saving Upgrades

London, March 11 (Reuters) - The UK announced on Tuesday that it will invest £1.8 billion ($2.33 billion) in energy efficiency upgrades, including insulation, solar panels, and heat pumps, to assist families in social housing in saving money and reducing emissions.

The government's focus on lowering energy expenses aligns with its commitment to achieving its 2050 net zero climate goal. Despite escalating gas prices leading to upcoming increases in domestic energy costs, the allocated funds aim to mitigate these challenges.

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero highlighted that the investment could potentially save households hundreds of pounds annually. The funding will primarily benefit low-income households and social housing tenants, with an estimated 170,000 homes in England set to receive support.
