Zoe Saldana Wins Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Role in 'Emilia Perez'

Zoe Saldana, aged 46, clinched her first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of a Mexico City attorney and facilitator for a former drug lord in the crime drama and musical "Emilia Perez." This achievement follows earlier victories at the Golden Globes, BAFTA, and SAG Awards this year for the same character.

In the film, Saldana assists the drug lord in faking his demise and undergoing gender-affirming surgery to transform into Emilia Perez, portrayed by Spain's Karla Sofia Gascon, in exchange for a substantial sum of money. Notably, she delivers a powerful performance singing "El Mal," critiquing the affluent during a charity event.

Beyond "Emilia Perez," Saldana has graced the screens in blockbuster hits such as "Avatar" and "Guardians of the Galaxy."
