Zelenskiy states a ceasefire on energy strikes with Russia could be reached swiftly.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that a cessation of energy strikes could be quickly established, emphasizing that Ukraine would retaliate if Moscow breached the terms of any ceasefire.

Following his first conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump since last month’s severe events, Zelenskiy indicated that Kyiv would compile a list of facilities eligible for a partial ceasefire facilitated by Washington. This list may encompass energy infrastructure as well as rail and port facilities.

Zelenskiy noted that until an agreement with Russia is reached and a formal document regarding even a partial ceasefire is enacted, hostilities, including drone and missile strikes, would persist.

He characterized his discussion with Trump as "probably his most substantive and positive" yet, expressing that he felt no pressure during their exchange.

The two leaders previously met on February 28 to discuss a minerals deal and the pathway to ending the war in Ukraine, but that meeting quickly descended into conflict in front of the media.

When asked if he still hoped for Trump's visit to Ukraine, Zelenskiy affirmed his desire and expressed that it would aid the U.S. president's efforts to end the war.

During the recent phone call, he and Trump discussed the significant Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine. Zelenskiy conveyed that Kyiv would be open to dialogues regarding U.S. involvement in modernizing and investing in the plant if it is returned to Ukraine.

Additionally, Zelenskiy mentioned that Ukraine had received new supplies of several F-16 fighter jets, though he did not disclose specific numbers or the timing of the delivery.
