BRUSSELS, Feb 27 (Reuters) - European Council President Antonio Costa announced on Thursday that he has extended an invitation to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy for a special meeting with EU leaders on March 6, to deliberate on future support for Ukraine.
In his letter of invitation to EU leaders, Costa stated, "The EU and its member states are prepared to assume greater responsibility for security in Europe."
He underscored the importance of considering the potential for European involvement in security guarantees essential for ensuring a lasting peace in Ukraine.
Costa, who presides over EU summits, expressed his objective of reaching decisions that would enhance the EU's capacity to address present and upcoming security challenges effectively.
