Xi Urges Strengthened Coordination Between China and Russia in International Affairs

China's state media reported that President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of China and Russia enhancing coordination in international and regional affairs during a meeting with Sergei Shoigu, Russia's Security Council Secretary, in Beijing on Friday. Xi highlighted the necessity for both countries to maintain close communication at various levels and anticipated the upcoming "series of significant agendas."

During a separate meeting with Shoigu, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed that Sino-Russia relations are unwavering, as stated by the Chinese foreign ministry. The two nations agreed to conduct new strategic security consultations at a suitable time.

According to Russia's Security Council, both sides rejected any expansion of NATO's influence in Asia, deeming it unacceptable. They expressed readiness for further strategic security discussions at multiple levels. Additionally, preparations for the 80th-anniversary commemorations of the World War Two victory over Nazi Germany in Moscow in May were also addressed.
