Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency is focusing on cost-cutting within the federal government, with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a target, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. She mentioned that Musk is not directly involved in the administration's campaign to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse. Joshua Fisher, the director of the White House Office of Administration, emphasized that Musk does not possess the authority to make governmental decisions independently. Additionally, the White House noted that Musk acts as both a White House staff member and a senior advisor to the president.
