Vietnam Approves SpaceX's Starlink Satellite Internet Service

Vietnam's government has announced that it will permit SpaceX to launch its Starlink satellite internet service on a trial basis in the country. There is no limit on foreign ownership of the service, and the trial period is set to last until the end of 2030. Analysts view the approval for the U.S. firm as part of the country's broader measures to enhance its technological landscape.

It remains unclear whether SpaceX has applied for a license to initiate its service in Vietnam. Starlink currently operates in over 120 markets worldwide. According to the statement, the company will be allowed to offer both fixed and mobile service plans throughout Vietnam, including services on flights. However, the government's decision establishes a cap of 600,000 subscribers during the trial period.
