US-Ukraine Statement on Resuming Aid and Intelligence Sharing

KYIV, March 10 (Reuters) - The following is the complete text of the joint statement issued by the United States and Ukraine after their bilateral discussions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday:

Today in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, hosted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the United States and Ukraine have taken significant strides towards establishing a lasting peace for Ukraine.

Both nations commended the courage of the Ukrainian people in defending their country and recognized the opportune moment to initiate the pathway to sustainable peace.

The Ukrainian delegation expressed deep appreciation for President Trump, the U.S. Congress, and the American people for their role in advancing meaningful progress towards peace.

Ukraine has agreed to the U.S. proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire, extendable upon mutual agreement, contingent on acceptance and simultaneous implementation by the Russian Federation. The United States emphasized to Russia the importance of reciprocal actions for achieving peace.

The United States will promptly resume intelligence sharing and reinstate security assistance to Ukraine.

The delegations addressed the significance of humanitarian aid within the peace process, particularly during the mentioned ceasefire, including the exchange of prisoners of war, release of civilian detainees, and the repatriation of forcibly displaced Ukrainian children.

Both sides committed to appointing their negotiating teams and initiating talks promptly to establish a lasting peace ensuring Ukraine’s enduring security. The United States pledged to explore these detailed proposals with Russian representatives. The Ukrainian delegation affirmed the necessity of involving European partners in the peace negotiations.

Furthermore, the two presidents have agreed to expeditiously finalize a comprehensive agreement to develop Ukraine’s critical mineral resources, aiming to bolster Ukraine’s economy and safeguard its long-term prosperity and security.
