US to Use AI for Revoking Visas of Students Suspected Aligned with Hamas

The US has introduced a program named 'Catch and Revoke' that utilizes AI to monitor the social media activity of foreign nationals for signs of support for Hamas in order to revoke their student visas. The program focuses on scrutinizing posts following the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel and has resulted in one student having their visa revoked for alleged Hamas backing. Critics contend that the initiative hampers free speech and could unfairly target Arab and Muslim students, a concern raised by Abed Ayoub from the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. Consequently, some students are refraining from participating in protests criticizing Israel due to apprehensions regarding their immigration status.
