Representatives from the United States and six allied nations have pledged joint efforts to combat global hostage-taking and unjust detentions, as outlined in a joint statement released on Tuesday after meetings in Montana.
The statement expressed unity in demanding the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages. Led by U.S. special envoy Adam Boehler, the talks in Big Sky, Montana, involved counterparts from Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Israel, and the United Kingdom. Discussions were focused on sharing information about detainees and enhancing collaborative strategies to secure the release of their citizens detained globally.
The group committed to utilizing all available diplomatic, economic, and strategic tools to bring home unlawfully detained individuals and prevent future incidents. The gathering emphasized support for individual freedoms and opposition to hostage-takers.
Efforts are also underway to secure the release of numerous individuals wrongfully detained in various countries, including China, Russia, Venezuela, Afghanistan, and others. President Donald Trump's administration has underscored the prioritization of repatriating Americans held abroad, signaling a strong stance against such practices.
