In Washington on February 3 (Reuters) – The U.S. President's envoy disclosed that there are at least six Americans unjustly imprisoned in Venezuela. This revelation came three days after successfully securing the release of six other Americans.

During an interview on the Megyn Kelly Show on YouTube, Grenell stated, "There is at least six," in response to a question about the number of Americans still detained in Venezuela.

Venezuelan officials have accused the majority of Americans held in their country of extremism, labeling some as high-ranking "mercenaries."

The Venezuelan government routinely alleges that opposition members and foreign detainees are collaborating with the U.S. to carry out extremist activities. U.S. officials consistently reject these claims.

Grenell recently met with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in Caracas to finalize the release of the detained Americans. His visit aimed to secure the freedom of individuals held in the country, amidst the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigration, including deportations from Venezuela and other Latin American nations.
