In Orebro, Sweden, a tragic event unfolded on February 5th, where an unemployed man around 35 years old, with a hunting license, is reported to have carried out the deadliest attack in Swedish history, acting alone according to Swedish media.

The incident took place at an adult education center in Orebro, 200 km (125 miles) west of Stockholm, resulting in the loss of at least 11 lives, with the police suspecting that the perpetrator was among the deceased.

Authorities have indicated that there appears to be no ideological motive behind the attack. The attacker remains unnamed, with officials stating that he had no prior criminal record, no gang affiliations, and was not known to law enforcement before the tragic event.

Swedish Minister of Justice Gunnar Strommer confirmed during a press conference that the assailant was a man. Described as a recluse by Aftonbladet, the man had minimal contact with his family for several years.

Reports from Swedish public broadcaster SVT, though without named sources, mentioned that the attacker, similar to many others in Sweden, held a hunting license and used a hunting weapon during the assault. He resided in Orebro where the attack occurred.

The targeted school provides education to adults who did not finish their formal studies or did not meet the academic requirements for higher education. Situated on a campus with schools for children, the institution was the site of the tragic event.

While Sweden faces concerns about illegal firearms, with a recent surge in gang-related crimes, the country's gun ownership levels, primarily associated with hunting, are relatively high within Europe but considerably lower compared to the United States.
