In Pokrovsk, Ukraine, despite the devastation from Russian attacks, Officer Hennadii Yudin persuaded an elderly couple to evacuate by contacting their grandchildren via video call. As they left in an armored van, the couple smiled, leaving behind the city's grim state.
Yudin and his team, known as the "White Angel," struggle to convince residents to leave the dwindling city. Despite the deteriorating conditions and imminent danger, around 7,000 people remain out of the initial 60,000.
Residents often resist evacuation due to various reasons such as reluctance to abandon pets, concerns about health, age, and the uncertainties of relocating. Russian forces closing in on the city pose a significant threat to the region's stability, prompting urgent evacuation efforts.
Pensioner Halyna sought help from Yudin's team to evacuate her 90-year-old aunt, a World War Two survivor, emphasizing the grim reality that despite hope, the situation is worsening.
