Ukraine reportedly launched an attack on a Russian oil refinery and Moscow using a wave of 121 drones, marking one of the largest operations of its kind during the conflict.

BBC-verified video footage captured a fireball above the refinery in the Ryazan region, southeast of Moscow, confirmed as a target by Ukrainian officials.

Russia claimed to have downed all 121 drones targeting 13 regions, including Ryazan and Moscow, with no reported damage.

Separately, Ukrainian sources reported three fatalities and one injury in the Kyiv region after a Russian drone struck a residential building.

According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine's disinformation countermeasure center, the Ryazan oil refinery and Bryansk's Kremniy factory were hit. Kyiv alleges that the factory produces weapon components.

Social media posts on Telegram depicted fires in Ryazan, with BBC-verified footage showing people fleeing as fire engulfed the area.

Russian news agency RIA quoted the Kremniy factory in Bryansk halting operations after an attack by six drones. Regional Governor Pavel Malkov confirmed emergency response efforts.

The Kremlin acknowledged the attacks but did not mention any damage or casualties, claiming to have intercepted 121 Ukrainian drones, including six near Moscow, 20 in Ryazan, and others at the Bryansk border.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported successful interception of Ukrainian drone attacks at four locations as well as air defense responses southeast of Moscow, with no reported damage.

Rosaviatsiya, the federal aviation agency, stated that Moscow's Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports had resumed operations after a temporary suspension, redirecting six flights.

Kursk's Mayor Igor Kutsak noted power line damage and electricity cuts in one district due to overnight attacks.

In response, Ukraine reported destroying 25 of the 58 drones launched by Russia, with casualties including two men and a woman killed in Hlevakha, Kyiv region, and one person injured.
