UBS's Compliance Chief Affirms Commitment to Switzerland

UBS has no intention of leaving Switzerland, according to the bank's compliance and governance chief, Markus Ronner, amid discussions on regulating the country's largest lender. Recently, the head of the Swiss Bankers Association expressed concerns that UBS might relocate if the proposed regulations became overly burdensome.

During a debate with lawmakers on national broadcaster SRF, Ronner emphasized UBS's strong ties to its home country, stating that the bank "certainly has no plans to leave Switzerland."

Two years ago, UBS acquired Credit Suisse following its collapse, which has led to calls for stricter regulations in the banking sector to mitigate the risk of a similar crisis. Reports indicate that UBS is considering capping the future size of its investment bank as a potential concession to avoid facing tougher capital requirements.
