On Thursday, January 23, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order focused on AI with the objective of "making America the global capital in artificial intelligence," as conveyed by his aide to reporters at the White House's Oval Office.

The executive order mandates the development of an Artificial Intelligence Action Plan within 180 days to establish a strategy "to maintain and bolster America’s leading position in AI worldwide to foster human well-being, economic competitiveness, and national security."

Additionally, Trump instructed his AI advisor and national security assistant to collaborate on the elimination of policies and regulations implemented during the tenure of former President Joe Biden.

Notably, on Monday, Trump rescinded an executive order from 2023 signed by Biden aimed at mitigating the risks associated with artificial intelligence for consumers, workers, and national security.

Biden's directive required creators of AI systems posing potential risks to U.S. national interests, the economy, public health, or safety to disclose safety test results to the U.S. government, under the umbrella of the Defense Production Act, prior to their public release.
