U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he signed an executive order aimed at increasing domestic production of critical minerals to counter China's dominance in the sector.
The White House has not yet provided specific details regarding the executive order, but previous reports indicated that Trump intends to utilize military bases to facilitate production.
David Copley, a former executive at Newmont, has been appointed to oversee the mining portfolio for the U.S. National Energy Dominance Council. In this role, Copley will be the top official shaping mining policy within the federal government.
Additionally, Trump mentioned that the United States will soon sign an agreement with Ukraine concerning minerals and natural resources.
