Aboard Air Force One on January 25 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump disclosed on Saturday that he is engaged in discussions with multiple parties regarding the potential purchase of TikTok and expects to reach a decision on the popular app's future within the next 30 days.

During a flight to Florida, Trump informed reporters, "I have spoken to many people about TikTok, and there is great interest in TikTok."

Earlier that day, Reuters reported that sources knowledgeable about the discussions indicated that the administration is developing a plan to rescue TikTok. This plan involves enlisting the assistance of software company Oracle and a consortium of outside investors to effectively manage the app's operations.

In his conversation with reporters on the flight, Trump noted that he had not directly spoken with Larry Ellison from Oracle about acquiring the app.

Regarding inquiries about coordinating a deal with Oracle and other investors to safeguard TikTok, Trump clarified, "No, not with Oracle...If we can save TikTok, I think it would be a good thing."

The sources mentioned that the specifics of any potential agreement with Oracle were subject to change and were still being determined. There are talks about involving some of ByteDance's current U.S. investors in the anticipated deal.

Representatives for TikTok, ByteDance investors, General Atlantic, KKR, Sequoia, and Susquehanna were not immediately available for comment.

The negotiations with Oracle aim to address national security concerns, and Oracle would be responsible for overseeing U.S. user data stored on its servers.

Trump stressed his desire for the U.S. to own a significant stake in TikTok, and discussions about a potential deal with Oracle are ongoing.

NPR reported that White House officials and Oracle have already held discussions on a prospective deal, with further meetings planned.

Trump has expressed the importance of complying with Congress requirements in relation to the potential acquisition of TikTok.
