Trump Criticizes Apple for Refusing to Abandon DEI Policies

Donald Trump called on Apple to discontinue its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies following a substantial shareholder vote that opposed their removal. The vote resulted in 210.45 million in favor and 8.84 billion against the proposal. Trump criticized DEI policies as discriminatory, suggesting they disadvantage individuals whose race or gender do not correspond with these initiatives. He also raised the possibility of a Department of Justice investigation into their legality. In a separate development, Apple unveiled a $500 billion investment in U.S. manufacturing over the next four years, with plans to hire more than 20,000 employees in the country. CEO Tim Cook affirmed Apple's commitment to fostering an inclusive environment while being open to adjusting DEI programs in response to evolving legal circumstances.
