On Friday, it was announced that U.S. Android users can now download and access the TikTok app through package kits on its website, bypassing restrictions on the platform in the country.

Since a U.S. law came into effect on January 19, requiring Chinese owner ByteDance to sell TikTok on national security grounds or face a ban, Apple and Google have not reinstated the app on their stores.

The new President, who assumed office the day the law took effect, signed an order to delay the law's enforcement by 75 days.

Former President Trump indicated ongoing discussions regarding TikTok's purchase and hinted at a possible decision this month. The app boasts around 170 million American users.

Additionally, a recent executive order instructed the establishment of a new company within the next year, potentially facilitating TikTok's acquisition.

Amid concerns that ByteDance could misuse American user data, U.S. officials have expressed caution.

While free speech supporters advocate for TikTok, which was banned under a law passed by Congress and endorsed by President Biden, the company asserts that its operations are largely within the United States, including storing user data on American cloud servers operated by Oracle and making content moderation decisions locally.
