On January 17, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew expressed gratitude to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump for his commitment to collaborate with the company in order to maintain the app's availability in the United States.

The company faces a deadline of January 19 to sever ties with its China-based parent company ByteDance or cease its U.S. operations to address national security concerns.

In a unanimous decision, Supreme Court justices and a White House statement indicated that President Biden was unlikely to intervene to save TikTok before the deadline expires.

While stating that the future of the TikTok app rests with him, Trump did not elaborate on his intended course of action. Reports suggest he may consider an executive order to temporarily halt enforcement of the law requiring TikTok's sale or banning for 60 to 90 days.

In a phone conversation on Friday, Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed various issues, including TikTok.

Sources revealed that Chew intends to attend a high-profile event hosted by Trump on January 20 as an invitee.
