The Kremlin Announces Return of Russian Citizen from the U.S.

On Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that a Russian citizen will be repatriated from the United States shortly as part of an exchange agreement with the U.S. administration. The individual's identity was not disclosed.

According to U.S. officials, the United States will release a Russian cybercrime suspect in exchange for Moscow releasing American schoolteacher Marc Fogel. Vinnik's lawyer confirmed his arrival in Turkey on Thursday and anticipated his prompt return to Russia.

Pointing to successful lobbying efforts, lawyer Arkady Bukh attributed Vinnik's release to former President Donald Trump's return to office. Vinnik had previously admitted guilt to money laundering charges related to his management of the BTC-e cryptocurrency exchange in the United States.
