A coalition of leading companies, such as Google, Amazon, and Meta, has committed to tripling global nuclear energy capacity by 2050. The initiative is spearheaded by the World Nuclear Association. This commitment marks the inaugural cross-industry collaboration to support the expansion of nuclear power in response to the increasing worldwide energy needs. In contrast, the environmental organization Greenpeace is against the expansion of nuclear energy, citing safety concerns and high costs, and advocates for solar and wind power alternatives. Lucia Tian of Google expressed the company's objective to hasten the adoption of advanced nuclear technologies to meet the global demand for clean energy.
