Boeing, the troubled aerospace giant, reported delivering just 348 aircraft to customers last year, its lowest output since the pandemic. The company ended the year with a backlog of 5,595 unfilled orders.

Factors such as increased scrutiny of Boeing's practices and industrial action have hindered production at one of America's largest manufacturers. In contrast, its European rival Airbus provided 766 planes. Boeing acknowledged the need for cultural improvement to restore trust and meet customer expectations.

Challenges in 2024 included quality control concerns, a strike in Washington, and supply chain disruptions. Issues with the 737 Max, production delays, and public criticism have prompted Boeing to enhance safety and quality control standards.

The company faced setbacks when a panel from a new 737 Max detached mid-flight due to improper installation. Regulatory audits uncovered lapses by Boeing and its supplier Spirit Aerosystems. The FAA regulated Boeing's production output instead of the planned increase.

Engines shortages due to the pandemic impacted the Dreamliner and Freighter models. A strike in September halted production in Washington, affecting the 737, 777, and 767 lines. Delivery delays for the 777X have been extended to 2026, complicating both Boeing's and airline operations.
