Lynn Ban, a renowned jewelry designer from Singapore who gained fame on the Netflix reality series Bling Empire, has passed away a month after undergoing brain surgery following a skiing accident.
Her son, Sebastian, confirmed her death in an Instagram post on Wednesday, honoring his 51-year-old mother as his "best friend and the best mother."
The accident occurred in Aspen, US on Christmas Eve. The immediate cause of Ban's death has not been disclosed by her family.
In a New Year's Eve social media post, Ban recounted falling and hitting her face while skiing on a mountain, despite wearing a helmet. Although initially thinking it was not serious, she later went to a hospital due to persistent headaches, where she was diagnosed with a brain bleed and underwent emergency surgery.
Born in Singapore, Ban had a successful career in New York, London, and Paris. Her unique designs have been worn by prominent figures such as Madonna, Beyonce, and Rihanna, among others.
As a part of the cast of Asian American socialites on Bling Empire New York in 2023, she was known for her extravagant lifestyle and fashion sense.
In his heartfelt tribute, Sebastian described his mother as a resilient and optimistic person who faced challenges with a smile, representing strength and courage until the very end.
