Russia's Defence Ministry accused Ukraine of destroying a significant gas pumping and metering station near the Ukrainian border as Ukrainian forces withdrew from the Kursk region, which they had occupied since August of last year.

The ministry stated that the facility near the Russian town of Sudzha, previously used by Gazprom for gas exports to Europe via Ukraine, had been under the control of Ukrainian forces and served as a logistics base.

The ministry described the destruction of the energy facility as a deliberate provocation by the Kyiv regime and suggested that it was part of a broader pattern of attacks against Russian energy infrastructure intended to undermine U.S. peace initiatives.

In response, the Ukrainian military denied any involvement in the incident and accused Russian forces of shelling them as part of a false flag operation.
