Russia Seeks NATO Exclusion from Ukraine Peace Treaty

On March 17, a Russian deputy foreign minister stated that Russia will insist on NATO countries providing assurances to exclude Ukraine from membership and ensure Ukraine maintains a neutral stance in any peace agreement. Alexander Grushko stressed the necessity for "ironclad security guarantees" that encompass Ukraine's neutrality and the rejection of its NATO membership by alliance nations.
