Russia and Ukraine Execute Major Prisoner Exchange Following Putin-Trump Call

Russia and Ukraine have exchanged 175 prisoners of war each, with both sides confirming the transaction. Additionally, Russia handed over 22 severely wounded Ukrainian prisoners. The Russian Defence Ministry stated that these individuals required urgent medical care and were returned as a goodwill gesture.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy described the exchange as one of the largest of its kind, noting that the 22 Ukrainians were "severely wounded warriors and those whom Russia persecuted for fabricated crimes." He assured that all of them would receive the necessary medical and psychological assistance.

The Russian Defence Ministry also mentioned that the mediation efforts for this exchange were facilitated by the United Arab Emirates, which operated from a humanitarian perspective. It further stated that the released Russian soldiers are currently in Belarus receiving medical and psychological care before being transported to Russia for additional treatment.
