Rubio: More Effort Needed on Drug Cooperation between Mexico and U.S.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged on Thursday that cooperation with Mexican authorities has improved, leading to tangible progress on migration. However, he highlighted the need for further efforts to stem the flow of illegal drugs. Under U.S. President Donald Trump's administration, the threat of tariffs has been utilized to prompt Mexico, its primary trade partner, to intensify measures against drug trafficking and unauthorized border crossings.

Rubio emphasized during a Fox News interview that, "We have seen a level of cooperation from the Mexican authorities that we have never seen in the past, but it is not enough." He noted a significant reduction in the number of migrants crossing the U.S. southern border illegally, while observing that the influx of drugs into the country remains unchanged.
