Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan about OPEC+ cooperation and ongoing Russia-U.S. discussions regarding Ukraine, according to the Kremlin.
The two leaders acknowledged the strong strategic partnership between Russia and the UAE and emphasized the importance of "close coordination" within the OPEC+ producer group, although specific details were not disclosed.
Both nations play a significant role in OPEC+ agreements and are essential to maintaining market stability.
The UAE president voiced support for Russia-U.S. dialogue concerning the Ukraine conflict and welcomed consultations between expert groups from both countries, which were occurring in Riyadh.
Putin also expressed gratitude to the UAE president for facilitating prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine, the most recent of which took place on March 19, involving the return of 175 prisoners of war from each side.
