Peru President Calls General Elections for April 2026

Peruvian President Dina Boluarte has called for general elections to be held on April 12, 2026, expressing her hope that this vote will bring an end to the current period of instability. Boluarte assumed office in 2022 following the removal of her predecessor, former President Pedro Castillo. Her term is set to conclude in 2026.
