Paris Voters Endorse Major Street Transformation Plan Despite Low Turnout

Parisians voted to transform 500 streets into pedestrian zones, with 66% in favor of the initiative, despite a voter turnout of only 4%. This plan will remove 10,000 parking spots and introduce new green spaces throughout the city.

As a result, the total number of pedestrian zones in Paris will increase to 700 streets. However, the city continues to fall short compared to other European capitals regarding green infrastructure. The implementation is projected to take 3 to 4 years, with an estimated cost of €500,000 per street.
