On January 28, OpenAI, a prominent artificial intelligence (AI) company backed by Microsoft, announced the release of ChatGPT Gov, a customized version of ChatGPT specifically tailored for U.S. government agencies. This offering will enable agencies to implement ChatGPT Gov within their Microsoft Azure commercial cloud infrastructure, providing access to various features and functionalities available in ChatGPT Enterprise, including the use of custom GPTs.
The launch follows a recent statement by CEO Sam Altman, posted on X, indicating that the company will be introducing new releases. This statement marks Altman's first public communication after the low-cost Chinese AI startup, DeepSeek AI, impacted the market on Monday.
Altman referred to DeepSeek as a "new competitor" that disrupted the AI industry through its high downloads on Apple's App Store. The surge in DeepSeek's popularity has prompted U.S. tech giant investors to closely scrutinize the substantial investments directed towards expanding AI operations.
