OSLO, March 14 (Reuters) - Finland's President Alexander Stubb has reappointed Olli Rehn to serve a second seven-year term as the head of Finland's central bank, according to a government statement on Friday.
In addition to his role at the Bank of Finland, Rehn will continue his position on the European Central Bank's (ECB) governing council, responsible for setting monetary policy in the euro zone.
Having held the position of Governor since [starting date], Rehn was a favored candidate among eight applicants for the position and is set to start his second term on July 12. Bank of Finland governors are limited to serving two terms.
Aged 62, Rehn brings a wealth of experience, having served ten years at the European Commission and holding the position of economic and monetary affairs commissioner during the euro zone debt crisis.
In a separate endeavor, Rehn unsuccessfully campaigned for the Finnish presidency last year.
